SWEET ABYSS returns for December with glamorous intent, celebrating the release of Carrie Sours’ long awaited “Advanced Yearning” EP on her newly minted SOURS imprint. Any of Penn Ave’s various denizens of the fabulous and obscene has come to love Carrie for her “moody & funky” DJ styles, jubilant smile, and infectious microphone skills at @maryspgh ⚧️ She steps into the fold for another live set presentation of original productions to combat the inherent loneliness of existence and encroaching grip of western fascism on a global scale… or, uh, some cute beats to soundtrack lesbian arm wrestling!
DJ Smoko.world takes the reigns on the 1s and 2s this time, beloved for their selections of alternative flavors heard everywhere from the dancefloors of Lucky’s and Hot Mass to their fur-forward event curation with Dog Noise and their beloved “Go Fetch” show on WRCT! Smoko is keen to bring their own flavour of “gay psychedelic vibes” to the intimate domain of Bantha Tea Bar - come listen to some synthesizers and throw a dog a bone! @smoko.world 🐶🐩🦴🐾🩷🩷🩷
Last but not least holding up the “esoteric lounge music” end of things, we have a special LIVE collaborative performance from Trē + Kiernan Laveaux + Davis Galvin. Longtime fans of Trē’s one-of-a-kind expressionistic approach to the flute and openness to collaboration, we’re happy to see where their unique skills meet up with the evocative compositional stylings of resident once-in-a-generation voice Davis Galvin, plus the turntablized “talents” of our own Kiernan Laveaux… don’t even get us started on her!

Sweet Abyss is an event to center people that run afoul of societal expectations playing a wide variety of fun, strange, rhythmic sounds to dance or move their minds to. Dance to all kinds of synth-wave, trip hop, dub, disco, & electronic explorations.
