Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) Workshop: Paid training for musicians with ideas to revitalize their communities!
The Pittsburgh Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) Workshop is a collaboration with national nonprofit, Music to Life and community partner BOOM Concepts. The Workshop provides hands-on training for Pittsburgh-based musicians to create and deliver sustainable, music-driven social change programs. The MCA Workshop takes place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 8:30am-5pm at Emerald City ( 213 Smithfield St, Pittsburgh, PA 15222). There will also be a public Community Music Showcase with select Workshop participants (participants will be notified of this opportunity separately). More information coming soon. The MCA Workshop and Showcase are supported by the SONY Global Social Justice Fund.
MCA is a 'deep-dive' business-skills workshop where artists will receive training in proposal development, identifying good-fit partners and mobilizing community support. Artists will develop a draft outline of their concept, fundraising, and partnership ideas, and an individualized artist changemaker statement.
Participating musicians will receive a $100 stipend, complimentary breakfast and lunch, and all MCA Workshop materials. Additionally, artists are invited to participate in a 2-hour follow up technical assistance session (currently scheduled for 7/8/25) with local mentors to help formulate grants, partnerships, and troubleshoot program challenges. Finally, participating artists are invited to join Music to Life's regional/national online Workshop "Reunions" and may qualify for Music to Life’s Juried Artist Roster with ongoing performance, educational, and grants opportunities.
SPACE IS LIMITED. Participating artists will be notified on a rolling basis. To participate, please complete this application no later than 11:59 pm on June 6th.
